Iran's Foreign Ministry Rejects Trump's Ceasefire Claim as False and Baseless
Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei has issued a strong denial of former US President Donald Trump's recent statement alleging that Tehran had requested a ceasefire. Baghaei categorically labeled Trump's claim as "false and baseless," as reported by Al Jazeera and quoted on Iranian state television.
Trump's Controversial Statement on Iran
In his remarks, Trump asserted that "Iran's New Regime President, apparently referring to Masoud Pezeshkian, has asked for a ceasefire." He further described the Iranian leader as "Much less Radicalized and far more intelligent than his predecessors" and claimed that Iran had just asked the United States for a ceasefire. Trump added threateningly, "We will consider when the Hormuz Strait is open, free, and clear. Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages!!!"
Iran's Firm Stance and Readiness to Defend Itself
In response, Baghaei emphasized Iran's unwavering position, stating, "You cannot speak to the people of Iran in the language of threats and deadlines." During an interview with Al Jazeera, he reinforced this stance by declaring, "We do not set any deadline for defending ourselves." This statement aligns with recent signals from Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who indicated Tehran's willingness to persist in its defensive efforts.
The rejection underscores the ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States, with Iran maintaining its resolve against perceived threats. The ministry's response highlights a commitment to national sovereignty and a refusal to engage in dialogue under coercion, reflecting the complex dynamics in US-Iran relations.
