JNI Urges Tinubu to Engage Trump Diplomatically Over US Threat
Muslim Group Advises Tinubu on Trump Diplomacy

Nigerian Muslim Group Calls for Diplomatic Solution to US Threat

The Jama'atu Nasril Islam (JNI), a prominent Nigerian Muslim organization, has strongly advised President Bola Tinubu to pursue diplomatic channels in addressing recent threats made by United States President Donald Trump against Nigeria.

In a significant development on Friday, November 7, the JNI expressed deep concern over President Trump's warning of potential military action against Nigeria, emphasizing that such remarks appear based on misinformation regarding religious persecution in the country.

Misinformation About Religious Treatment

Malam Muhammad Babangida, the Secretary of JNI in Jigawa State, released an official statement from Dutse clarifying that the situation stems from incorrect information about how Christians are treated in Nigeria. The Muslim community believes Trump's assessment does not reflect the actual security realities on the ground.

Babangida emphasized that the alleged threat of military intervention highlights the urgent need for the Nigerian government to engage the United States through constructive dialogue and diplomatic means rather than confrontation.

Call for High-Level Delegation

The JNI specifically recommended that President Tinubu should lead a high-powered delegation to meet directly with President Trump and members of the U.S. Congress. This proposed engagement would serve to clarify Nigeria's complex security situation and demonstrate the ongoing efforts to protect all citizens regardless of their religious beliefs.

According to the Muslim group, such face-to-face diplomacy would help American leaders understand the multifaceted nature of Nigeria's security challenges and the government's commitment to ensuring peace and safety for all Nigerians.

The organization stressed that Nigerians must remain united, prayerful, and committed to building a peaceful nation during this period of international tension. They also urged the government to intensify efforts in tackling insecurity across various regions of the country.

Babangida concluded the statement with prayers for divine guidance and wisdom for Nigeria's leaders as they navigate this diplomatic challenge and seek peaceful resolutions to the emerging tension with the United States.
