Trump Issues Stark Warning to Iran Over 'Real Agreement' and Military Threats
US President Donald Trump has issued a forceful warning to Iran, stating that American forces will maintain their deployment around the country and threatening potential "bigger, and better, and stronger" attacks if a "real" agreement is not achieved between the United States and the Islamic Republic. In a social media post late on Wednesday, Trump emphasized that US troops, aircraft, and naval assets would stay in position until what he termed the "REAL AGREEMENT" is fully implemented.
Trump's Direct Message on Social Media and Military Posture
Trump wrote, "If for any reason it is not, which is highly unlikely, then the 'Shootin’ Starts,' bigger, and better, and stronger than anyone has ever seen before." He added, "It was agreed, a long time ago, and despite all of the fake rhetoric to the contrary - NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS and, the Strait of Hormuz WILL BE OPEN & SAFE." The president further commented, "In the meantime, our great Military is Loading Up and Resting, looking forward, actually, to its next Conquest. AMERICA IS BACK!"
Background of the Conflict and Recent Ceasefire
This warning comes just one day after a two-week ceasefire, brokered by Pakistan, paused six weeks of intense fighting. The conflict between the US and Iran began on February 28, when the United States and Israel conducted strikes on Iran, resulting in the death of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the early days of the war. As hostilities continued, Iran started restricting the number of ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil trade route.
Upcoming Peace Talks in Islamabad
Peace negotiations between Iran and the US are scheduled to take place in Islamabad over the weekend. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that Vice President J.D. Vance will lead the United States in these discussions. She stated, "The first round of those talks will take place on Saturday morning local time. Vice President Vance has played a very significant and key role in this since the very beginning." Leavitt added, "He’s been involved in all of these discussions, and as I just announced, he’ll be leading this new phase of negotiations in Islamabad later this week."
The situation remains tense as both sides prepare for crucial talks, with Trump's warnings underscoring the high stakes involved in reaching a durable agreement to prevent further escalation and ensure stability in the region.
