The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has announced the distribution of N2.257 trillion to the federal, state, and local governments for April 2026. This allocation was approved during the May 2026 FAAC meeting held in Abuja, with the communiqué released on Tuesday.
Breakdown of Revenue
According to the communiqué, the total distributable revenue comprises N1.26 trillion from statutory revenue, N747.088 billion from value-added tax (VAT), and an augmentation of N250 billion. The gross revenue available for the month was N3.184 trillion, with deductions for collection costs totaling N113.756 billion and transfers, refunds, and savings amounting to N813.839 billion.
Statutory Revenue Details
Gross statutory revenue for April 2026 stood at N2.378 trillion, reflecting an increase of N678.224 billion compared to the N1.699 trillion recorded in March 2026. From the statutory revenue, the federal government received N580.942 billion, state governments received N294.661 billion, and local governments received N227.17 billion. Additionally, N157.254 billion was allocated to benefiting states as 13 percent of mineral derivative revenue.
Value-Added Tax (VAT) Distribution
Gross VAT revenue for April 2026 was N806.617 billion, higher than the N664.425 billion recorded in March 2026, representing an increase of N142.19 billion. The VAT revenue contributed to the overall distributable pool.
Total Allocation by Government Tier
From the total distributable revenue of N2.257 trillion, the federal government received N787.351 billion, state governments received N772.36 billion, and local government councils received N540.15 billion. Furthermore, N157.254 billion was shared among benefiting states as 13 percent of mineral derivative revenue.
The FAAC communiqué highlights the continued growth in revenue collections, with statutory and VAT revenues both showing significant month-on-month increases.
