The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has distributed a total of N2.257 trillion to the federal government, state governments, and local government councils for April 2026. This was disclosed by Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations in the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation (OAGF), in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja.
Mr. Mokwa stated that the revenue was shared during the May 2026 FAAC meeting held recently in Abuja. He revealed that the N2.257 trillion total distributable revenue consisted of distributable statutory revenue of N1.260 trillion, distributable Value Added Tax (VAT) revenue of N747.088 billion, and an augmentation of N250 billion.
According to Mr. Mokwa, a communiqué issued by FAAC indicated that total gross revenue of N3.184 trillion was available in April 2026. Deductions for cost of collection amounted to N113.756 billion, while total transfers, refunds, and savings stood at N813.839 billion.
Gross statutory revenue for April 2026 was N2.378 trillion, higher than the N1.699 trillion received in the previous month by N678.224 billion. Gross revenue from VAT was N806.617 billion in April 2026, up from N664.425 billion in March 2026, an increase of N142.192 billion.
From the N2.257 trillion total distributable revenue, the federal government received N787.351 billion, state governments received N772.360 billion, and local government councils received N540.152 billion. Additionally, N157.254 billion (13 per cent of mineral revenue) was shared to benefiting states as derivation revenue.
Regarding the N1.260 trillion distributable statutory revenue, the federal government got N580.942 billion, state governments received N294.661 billion, and local government councils got N227.172 billion. The derivation revenue of N157.254 billion was also allocated from this portion.
From the N747.088 billion distributable VAT revenue, the federal government received N74.709 billion, state governments got N410.898 billion, and local government councils received N261.481 billion. From the N250 billion augmentation, the federal government got N131.700 billion, states received N66.800 billion, and local governments got N51.500 billion.
Mr. Mokwa further disclosed that in April 2026, Companies Income Tax (CIT), CGT, SDT, Import Duty, Oil and Gas Royalty, and Value Added Tax (VAT) increased significantly, while Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT) and Hydrocarbon Tax (HT) decreased considerably. Excise Duty and CET Levies decreased marginally.
