The Adamawa State Executive Council has given the green light to projects and budgetary allocations exceeding N36.8 billion, aimed at enhancing infrastructure, strengthening government operations, and improving the well-being of residents across the state.
Council Meeting Details
The approvals were granted during the 9th Executive Council meeting of 2026, chaired by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the Government House in Yola. Addressing journalists after the session, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Leader Leneke, revealed that the council endorsed the remodeling and renovation of the Adamawa State Governor's Lodge in Kaduna at a cost of over N154 million.
Budgetary Adjustments
Leneke further disclosed that the council approved amendments to the 2026 revised budget estimates, channeling additional funds from the contingency reserve to various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). This adjustment, valued at over N36 billion, is intended to support critical government operations and development programs.
Administrative Reforms
In a move to improve administrative efficiency, Governor Fintiri directed the Commissioner for Special Duties to oversee the Ministry of Livestock. The council also approved the transfer of the Ministry of Energy to the Ministry of Works, effectively restoring the Ministry of Works and Energy Development. According to Leneke, the governor further instructed all ministries to submit reports on ongoing projects through the Office of the Chief of Staff before next week to enhance monitoring, evaluation, and implementation.
Infrastructure Projects
The council also approved a contract worth over N742 million for the construction of a pedestrian bridge across Galadima Aminu Way, popularly known as Bank Road, in Yola. Speaking on the project, the Commissioner for Works and Energy Development, Suleiman Muhammad, stated that the bridge is expected to be completed within three months. He explained that the project aims to improve pedestrian safety, reduce accidents, and enhance security along the busy corridor.
These approvals, according to government officials, reflect the administration's unwavering commitment to infrastructure development, efficient public service delivery, and the execution of projects designed to uplift the quality of life for residents across Adamawa State.
