The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun distributing sensitive materials for the Ekiti State governorship election, scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026. This marks a critical step as the state prepares for the gubernatorial poll, along with several senatorial and federal constituency by-elections.
Distribution Process at CBN Office
INEC officials sorted the sensitive materials at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) office in Ado Ekiti. The materials will be transported to all 16 local government areas. The CBN office is bustling with activity and under tight security, with police officers deployed to their posts.
Resident Electoral Commissioner for Ekiti State, Dr. Bunmi Omoseyindemi, confirmed that the process has been smooth and assured that the materials will reach their destinations on time for the elections.
Voter Registration and PVC Collection
According to INEC, registered voters in Ekiti increased from 987,647 in 2023 to 1,059,360 in 2026. The number of collected Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) rose from 958,052 in 2023 to 1,028,929 in 2026, representing a collection rate of 97.1%.
