The Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) has released a comprehensive list of 21 items that applicants must bring to the Basic Paramilitary Physical Screening, responding to what the agency described as repeated inquiries from candidates. The public notice, signed on August 20, 2026, by ACG Issaka Ahmed, Director of Human Resources, was issued on behalf of the Board Chairman and is directed at applicants who have already passed the Computer-Based Test (CBT) phase of the recruitment exercise.
Full List of Required Items
NAQS stated that every qualifying candidate must arrive with two passport photographs and an original medical fitness certificate from a government hospital, along with three photocopies. The agency specifically warned applicants to confirm they are free from malaria before obtaining the certificate.
On clothing, candidates are required to bring two pairs of white shorts and round-neck T-shirts, a pair of white trainers or canvas sneakers, pop socks or long socks, black socks for shoes, and warm clothing in either all-black or dark green. A black trouser and blue jean trousers are also listed.
Beyond clothing, the full list includes a mosquito repellent and net, laboratory cloth, a complete set of cutlery, writing materials, a waist pouch, and a bed sheet with a pillowcase.
Grooming and Conduct Rules
NAQS also outlined strict appearance standards. Male applicants must arrive clean-shaven, and no hair attachments are permitted for either gender. Long dangling earrings, bangles, and anklets are banned; only pin earrings, wedding bands, and wristwatches are allowed.
Candidates are further barred from wearing long nails or brightly coloured nail polish. Only minimal makeup is permitted. Headphones and earbuds are not allowed during training drills or exercise routines, and the agency said electric boiling rings and all other heating appliances are strictly prohibited.
Next Steps for Candidates
NAQS advised all successful applicants to gather the listed items well ahead of time and not wait until the last moment. The agency said specific information on the date, venue, and any additional requirements will be sent directly to each applicant's registered email address.
Previously, NAQS postponed the publication of shortlisted candidates for its ongoing recruitment exercise, which had been scheduled for Wednesday, August 12. The service announced the delay in a public notice also signed by ACG Issaka Ahmed, Director of Human Resources, on behalf of the Board Chairman, dated Thursday, August 13.
