In the Ekiti State governorship election, physically challenged and elderly voters demonstrated remarkable determination by defying obstacles to cast their ballots on Saturday. Among them was Adesola Bello, a 20-year-old physically challenged woman who voted at unit 011, Atiba Aafin, 01, in Ikere-Ekiti. She expressed her motivation, stating, 'I am interested in good governance; that's why I came out to vote for the candidate of my choice.' She also urged the government to empower physically challenged individuals in society.
Elderly Voters Also Turn Out
The elderly were equally resolute in exercising their civic duty. Pa Ojo Sunday, 80 years old, was accredited at Ibariba Hall, unit 001 Ilapetu/Ijao, 008 area, Ikere-Ekiti. At Osolo Hall, Unit 003, Ilapetu, Ikere-Ekiti, several elderly women were seen patiently waiting for accreditation in anticipation of voting. Their presence underscored the importance of participation in the electoral process, regardless of age or physical condition.
The determination of these voters highlights the resilience of the electorate in Ekiti State, as they overcame physical limitations and age-related challenges to make their voices heard in the governorship election.
