ADSIEC Ready for June 13 Adamawa LG Elections

The chairman of the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC), Alhaji Mohammed Umar, has declared that the commission has finalized all preparations for the upcoming local government council elections scheduled for June 13, 2026. He made this announcement on Monday during a strategic meeting with security agencies held in Yola, the state capital, emphasizing the goal of ensuring a peaceful, credible, and successful electoral process across the state.

Preparations Completed

Alhaji Mohammed Umar stated that the commission has concluded all necessary arrangements for the elections and remains committed to delivering a free and fair process. He confirmed that June 13 has been officially fixed for the local government elections and noted that several preparatory activities have been carried out. These include candidate screening, consultations with political parties, procurement of election materials, and the production of ballot papers, ballot boxes, result sheets, and other essential items.

Election Materials in Custody

According to the chairman, all sensitive and non-sensitive election materials are already in the commission's custody. Distribution to the 21 local government areas is scheduled to commence on Thursday to facilitate timely deployment ahead of the polls.

Participating Political Parties

The ADSIEC chairman disclosed that 11 political parties will participate in the election. They include the All Progressives Congress (APC), Action Peoples Party (APP), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Social Democratic Party (SDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Young Progressives Party (YPP), Boot Party (BOOT), ACCORD, New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), and Action Party (AP). He explained that while all 11 parties have fielded candidates for councillorship positions, only four political parties presented candidates for both chairmanship and councillorship seats across the state's 21 local government areas.

Role of Security Agencies

Umar emphasized the importance of security agencies in ensuring a successful election, stressing that close collaboration between the commission and security stakeholders would be critical to maintaining peace and order before, during, and after the polls. He expressed confidence that the election would be conducted in a peaceful, transparent, and credible manner and would be widely accepted by stakeholders.
