Eleme Monarch Drives Transformation with Major Road Projects, Attracts Investors
King Appolus Chu's Road Projects Transform Eleme Kingdom

Excitement is sweeping through Eleme Kingdom in Rivers State following a series of transformative road development projects spearheaded by their traditional ruler, His Royal Majesty, King Dr. Appolus Chu, Oneh-Eh Nchia X. The monarch's long-term vision for sustainable community development is fundamentally reshaping the future of the area.

A Strategic Network Unlocks Potential

The ambitious road construction, executed meticulously in phases from Phase 1 to Phase 5, was strategically designed to open up previously inaccessible parts of the kingdom. The new networks provide crucial links to major industrial zones like the Indorama Petrochemical Complex and the Onne Sea Port, as well as to residential communities within Eleme and the neighbouring Oyigbo Local Government Area.

This improved accessibility is already yielding significant benefits. The area is now attracting new investors, helping to ease the chronic congestion in Port Harcourt and positioning Eleme for economic growth.

Documentary Highlights Security and Economic Gains

A documentary by Hadiza Babakatcha sheds light on the profound impact of these projects. She noted that the roads have effectively mapped out the town, signalling the emergence of new urban centres within Eleme. Perhaps most strikingly, land value has skyrocketed. "Plots that were sold for as cheap as two hundred thousand naira only a few years ago are now worth millions," Babakatcha observed, explaining how this empowers local landowners to build wealth.

The documentary also emphasised a major improvement in security. Previously, criminals exploited the remoteness and dense forests as hideouts for kidnap victims and other illegal activities. "Thankfully, through the foresight and innovation of King Dr Appolus Chu, these areas have been opened up and no longer offer cover to such criminals," Babakatcha stated.

Government Recognition and Future Industrial Plans

The project's quality and importance have garnered official recognition. The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has tarred some of the monarch's earlier roads, while the Rivers State Government has taken up the tarring of one of the newly created roads. The Federal Government has also dispatched a team to inspect the ongoing work.

Beyond infrastructure, King Appolus Chu has invested in a large industrial facility in the area, comprising several warehouses. He called on investors to utilise these facilities, expressing hope that the resulting industrial estate would further cement Rivers State's status as the industrial hub of the Niger Delta.

Reflecting on the journey, the monarch said, "There are many people God could have used to achieve this dream. That He decided to choose me is my honour and privilege." He pledged to continue devoting himself to creating avenues for a better life for both indigenes and settlers.

King Chu also urged community residents to play their part. "I call on our people to do the little they can in supporting the government to make life better for us, rather than leaving everything to the government alone. The government has its role, and we also have our own roles to play," he concluded.
