Stakeholders Applaud Governor Mbah for Healthcare and Infrastructure Boost in Awgu
Traditional rulers, community stakeholders, and women groups in Awgu Local Council Area have expressed strong approval for Governor Peter Mbah's administration, particularly highlighting the newly constructed Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centre in Ogbaku as a vital resource for the community. During a quarterly supervisory visit, these groups overwhelmingly endorsed the governor for a potential second term in office, citing significant improvements in local infrastructure and services.
Healthcare Centre Described as a Lifeline
The interactive session, which included traditional rulers, presidents-general, youth groups, farmers, ward development committees, women groups, and patients, focused on the impact of the new healthcare facility. Igwe M.O. Egbo, speaking on behalf of the Ogbaku Community, described the hospital as a critical intervention for both the young and elderly, emphasizing its role as a lifeline. He urged for the deployment of additional health workers to ensure round-the-clock services, while assuring the governor of the community's steadfast support.
Road Projects Enhance Connectivity
In addition to the healthcare centre, stakeholders praised the administration for ongoing road projects spanning over 55 kilometres across the council area. These interventions have notably improved connectivity and alleviated long-standing transportation challenges, contributing to better access to services and economic opportunities for residents.
Community and International Endorsements
Collins Okere, the Coordinating President-General of Awgu Local Council, noted that the facility fulfills a long-held dream for the area. Women's groups, led by Awgu Women Leader Mrs. Francisca Uzo, were particularly vocal in their endorsement, describing the hospital as life support due to its accessibility and positive impact. Dr. Igboekwu Chukwumuanya, the World Health Organisation (WHO) South East Zonal Coordinator, commended the project and encouraged other states to adopt similar healthcare models.

In response, Governor Mbah explained that the interactive session was designed to gather firsthand feedback from the people, ensuring that government projects effectively meet their needs. He emphasized his commitment to continuous improvement and community engagement, reinforcing the administration's focus on sustainable development in Enugu State.
