Ogun State Assembly Issues Stern Warning Over Public Infrastructure Damage
The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, has issued a strong caution to members of the public regarding the indiscriminate dumping of refuse and the misuse of road shoulders for dropping building materials. This practice has been identified as a significant hindrance to the free flow of traffic and poses a threat to public infrastructure across the state.
Urgent Concerns Raised by Lawmaker
The warning came in response to a presentation made by Hon. Ademola Adeniran, the member representing Sagamu II State Constituency. Adeniran reported persistent cases of residents in his constituency and other parts of Ogun State dumping building materials on road shoulders for several months. He described this behavior as a nuisance to road users and emphasized the urgent need for immediate action to prevent further damage to public infrastructure.
According to Adeniran, who spoke on a matter of urgent public concern during a plenary session, this ongoing practice is causing substantial damage to road infrastructure. It not only hinders maintenance efforts but also adversely affects traffic movement in the affected areas, creating safety hazards and inconveniences for commuters.
