Ojodu LCDA Proposes N9.8bn 'Budget of Sustainability Growth for All' for 2026
Ojodu Council Presents N9.8bn 2026 Budget to Assembly

The Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), David Odunmbaku, has formally presented the council's 2026 appropriation bill, valued at N9.801 billion, to the legislative arm for approval. The presentation took place on 20 December 2025.

A Blueprint for Community Resilience

Christened the 'Budget of Sustainability Growth for All; Investing in Resilient Communities', the fiscal plan outlines a comprehensive roadmap for development. Chairman Odunmbaku emphasized that the budget is more than a financial document; it represents a covenant of hope and a commitment to inclusive progress for all residents of Ojodu LCDA.

The budget strategically allocates N5,187,249,379.03 to capital expenditure, constituting 52.4 per cent of the total sum. This significant investment underscores the administration's focus on tangible projects and long-term infrastructure.

Key Sectors and Projects in Focus

The proposed expenditure will target several critical areas designed to uplift the community. A major pillar is the digitalization of the council's operations, starting with business permit processes. This move aims to block all revenue leakages, enhance transparency, and ensure every kobo collected is properly accounted for and channeled into public services.

Other highlighted programmes and projects include:

  • Construction and rehabilitation of roads across the council area.
  • Provision of solar-powered street lights to improve security and night-time activity.
  • Rehabilitation of primary schools and provision of bursary awards to support education.
  • Upgrading of Public Health Centres to bolster healthcare delivery.
  • Empowerment schemes, sensitisation programmes, and training seminars aimed at poverty reduction.
  • Initiatives for environmental sanitation, youth support, sports development, and agricultural programmes.

Legislative Scrutiny and Commendation

The Leader of the Legislative House, Opeyemi Apatira, commended the chairman for crafting a budget that captures a shared resolve to deepen inclusive development. Apatira acknowledged that the proposal aligns with the goal of strengthening community resilience.

He assured that the legislative assembly would diligently scrutinize the budget details and give it timely attention to ensure it meets the needs and aspirations of the Ojodu populace. The final approval will pave the way for the implementation of these projects starting in the 2026 fiscal year.
