Rotary International District 9111 Makes Generous Donation to Lagos Old Peoples Home
In a heartwarming display of community service, Rotary International District 9111 has donated items valued at N1.5 million to the Old Peoples Home located in Yaba, Lagos. The donation, which took place during a recent visit by the organization, included essential items such as wheelchairs, a washing machine, plastic chairs, and rice, aimed at improving the quality of life for the elderly residents.
Commitment to Service and Elderly Care
The District Governor of Rotary International District 9111, Prince Henry Akinyele, personally presented the donation on behalf of the Committee for the Elders. He emphasized that this act aligns with Rotary International's core mission of serving humanity through continuous giving. "As members of Rotary International, we believe in serving humanity, in giving and continuous giving," Akinyele stated. He further highlighted the importance of loving and adequately caring for elders, underscoring the organization's dedication to this cause.
Objectives and Future Plans
Mr. Olaniyan Fafowora, Chairman of the District Elders Committee, explained that supporting elders is the primary goal of the committee. He praised the successful donation exercise and expressed optimism about future initiatives to empower the residents of the home. "Giving to elders is the main objective of the committee," Fafowora noted, adding that they hope to return with more support in the future.

Mrs. Adetutu Ipaye, Director of Elders Care Services, expressed deep appreciation for the generous contribution from Rotary International District 9111. During the visit, Rotary members engaged with the inmates, sharing songs and prayers, fostering a sense of community and solidarity.
