Senate President Godswill Akpabio has inaugurated four newly elected senators who won their seats during the recent by-elections held across four senatorial districts. The swearing-in ceremony took place on Wednesday, June 24, during plenary at the National Assembly, restoring full representation for the affected constituencies.
New Senators Take Oath of Office
The lawmakers, who emerged victorious in the by-elections conducted last Saturday, took their oaths of office to fill vacant seats in Ondo South, Nasarawa North, Enugu North, and Rivers South East senatorial districts. The All Progressives Congress (APC) secured three of the four seats, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won one.
The new members include Dayo Faduyile of the APC representing Ondo South, Envulu Anza of the APC representing Nasarawa North, and Ikeje Asogwu of the APC representing Enugu North. Also sworn in was Olaka Nwogu of the PDP, who will represent Rivers South East in the upper legislative chamber.
Restoration of Constituency Representation
Their inauguration restores representation for the affected constituencies, allowing them to participate fully in legislative activities. The by-elections were conducted to fill vacancies that had left these districts without senators.
