Ex-Minister Dalung Brands Tinubu a 'Political Dwarf' in Nigeria's History
Dalung: Tinubu is a 'Political Dwarf' in Nigeria's History

Former Minister Dalung Dismisses Tinubu as 'Political Dwarf' in Nigerian History

In a striking and controversial statement, former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has described President Bola Tinubu as a "dwarf" in Nigeria's political history, asserting that the President should not be ranked among the nation's great leaders.

Television Appearance Sparks Heated Debate

Dalung made these remarks on Sunday, February 9, while appearing as a guest on Channels Television. When questioned about whether President Tinubu, often hailed as a political heavyweight and master strategist, could be defeated in the 2027 presidential election, Dalung responded with a sharp critique.

"Tinubu is a dwarf in Nigerian political history and he should not be compared with great leaders like Sardauna and Awolowo," Dalung stated emphatically.

Call for Tangible Governance Results

Dalung argued that if President Tinubu were truly a strategic leader, his reputation should be evident in improved governance outcomes, particularly in critical areas such as security and the economy. He emphasized that great leaders are defined by their legacies and service to the people.

"Because great leaders build legacies. They served the people. They worked for the people. If he is a great strategist as is being speculated, let us see this being translated into action," he added.

Critique of National Performance

The former minister noted that President Tinubu has failed to replicate at the national level the successes he achieved as governor of Lagos State. Dalung pointed out that Nigerians are still waiting to see clear improvements in the country's economic and security challenges.

"Tinubu cannot manage insecurity, economy, and even a common palliative rolled out for the purpose of augmenting some of his economic policies," he said.

Accusations of Economic and Corruption Failures

Dalung further accused the administration of presiding over worsening economic conditions and rising corruption. He questioned the impact of Tinubu's strategies on the benefit of Nigerians.

"His strategies should be seen in his performances, not somebody who is failing in everything. The economy is in shambles, corruption is flourishing. Where did this great strategist make an impact for the benefit of Nigerians?" Dalung asked.

This statement has ignited a wave of reactions across political circles, highlighting ongoing debates about leadership and governance in Nigeria.
