Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has declared that if elected in 2027, he will oversee a comprehensive transformation of northern Nigeria, delivering the unity, security, and prosperity that residents of the region have long sought. Obi made this commitment during an appearance on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television.

"I will change the North. I have an idea of what is happening in the North, and nobody can drive that process in Nigeria better than me. I will work with them and ensure the unity, security and prosperity they desire are achieved," Obi said during the interview.
He emphasised that his understanding of the region's challenges and opportunities uniquely positions him to lead the change process. The former Anambra State governor stressed that no other candidate could match his capacity to deliver tangible progress in northern Nigeria.
Call to Move Beyond Historical Divisions
Speaking broadly about his national vision, Obi urged Nigerians to stop allowing historical grievances to dictate their future. He stated that the country must reach a point where citizens see themselves as one people, irrespective of religion or ethnicity. "I want the child of Nigeria to be able to grow up in Nigeria, go to school, live his life without thinking about his life, without thinking about yesterday, without thinking about his religion. But as a Nigerian," Obi said.
