A major media and political event is set to take place in the nation's capital later this month, featuring prominent figures from Nigeria's political landscape. The 23rd edition of the prestigious Daily Trust Dialogue will be held on January 22 at the NAF Conference Centre & Suites in Abuja.
Saraki to Chair Dialogue on Nigeria's Fourth Republic
According to an official statement released by the Media Trust Group, the event will be chaired by former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki. Saraki, a two-term governor of Kwara State and former senator representing Kwara Central, has accepted to preside over the dialogue. The theme for this year's critical conversation is "Nigeria's Fourth Republic: What is Working and What is Not."
The statement, signed by the Chief Executive Officer of Media Trust Group, Ahmed Shekarau, highlighted that Saraki will bring his wealth of experience spanning nearly three decades as both a key political actor and a keen observer at national and sub-national levels to the role of chairman.
Royalty and Political Experience in Attendance
Adding royal weight and further political insight to the occasion will be the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, who will serve as the Special Guest of Honour. Oba Ladoja, crowned as the 44th Olubadan in September 2025, is himself a significant political figure. He served as the governor of Oyo State from 2003 to 2007 and was a senator representing Oyo South during the Third Republic between 1992 and 1993.
