The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has taken decisive disciplinary action against a significant number of its prominent members. The party's National Working Committee (NWC) has imposed a six-month suspension on fifteen individuals, including founding figures, for actions it claims have severely undermined party unity.
Major Suspensions and Allegations of Disruption
This major shake-up was finalized during the NWC's regular meeting held on Thursday, December 17, 2025, at the party's Global Campus and Transformation Center. Presided over by the National Chairman, Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe, the committee identified what it termed as destructive anti-party activities.
In an official statement, Gombe asserted that the suspended members engaged in collaborations with external coalition partners. These actions, according to the party leadership, fostered disaffection among the ranks and disrupted the peaceful and efficient conduct of party business. The suspensions were enacted under Article 15(a) of the ADC constitution.
The suspended members are:
- Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu
- Alhaji Ibrahim Mani
- Dr. Bamidele Ganiyu Ajadi
- Dr. Chike Okogwu
- High Chief Anayo Arinze
- Hon. Kenneth Gbandi
- Alhaji Said Baba Abdullahi
- Ms. Hauwa Yusuf Musa
- Hon. Nkem Ukandu
- Barr. Peters Iyiola Oyewole
- Dr. Peter Edeh
- Hon. Prince Festus Igbinoba
- Hon. Razak Eyiwuawi
- Balarabe Rufai
- Barr. Emeka
New Appointments and Nullification of Unauthorized Congresses
Concurrently, the NWC moved to strengthen its administrative framework by announcing a series of key appointments. These new officials are expected to assume their duties immediately by collecting their letters from the national headquarters.
The new appointees include:
- Hon. Leke Joseph Abejide as Chairman, Board of Patrons.
- Hon. Bala Sani as Chief of Staff to the National Chairman.
- Abimiku Monday, Ph.D as Special Adviser on Strategic Communication.
- Muhammad Sa'ad Aboki as Director of Youth Mobilization.
- Bello Shehu as Director of Finance.
- Rabiu Mohammed as Administrative Secretary.
Furthermore, the party leadership issued a stern warning against parallel activities. It declared all ongoing unauthorized Ward, Local Government, and State Congresses as null, void, and of no effect. The public and party members were directed to disregard the outcomes of such gatherings.
Committee for Osun Gubernatorial Primary Formed
In a related development towards party organization, the NWC established a four-member committee to oversee the upcoming Osun State Gubernatorial Primary Election. The committee will be chaired by Dr. Rufus Ikanmi, with Barr. Henry P. Moses serving as Secretary. Other members are Muhammad Ibrahim and Alhaji Ibrahim Saleh Katagum.
Chairman Gombe emphasized that the National Executive Committee (NEC) will soon meet to ratify an official timetable for legitimate party congresses. All official communications, he stressed, will be disseminated through the ADC's authorized channels only.
This sweeping action by the ADC leadership signals a forceful attempt to centralize control, discipline perceived dissidents, and present a unified front amidst internal challenges that have threatened its stability.
