The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has taken a fresh step in its preparations for the 2027 general elections as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar officially received the party's flag as its presidential candidate.
Flag Presentation Ceremony in Abuja
The event took place on Wednesday evening, May 27, at the ADC national secretariat in Abuja, following the collation of results from the party's presidential primary election held nationwide. Atiku emerged victorious, defeating other contenders including former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi and economist Hayatu-Deen.
The national chairman of the ADC, David Mark, handed over the party flag to Atiku in a ceremony attended by party leaders, supporters, and stakeholders. The presentation marked the formal endorsement of Atiku as the ADC flagbearer for the 2027 presidential race.
Party Unity and Support
Speaking at the event, party officials expressed confidence in Atiku's candidacy and called for unity among all members. They emphasized the need to work collectively towards winning the upcoming election. Atiku, in his acceptance remarks, thanked the party for its trust and pledged to lead a campaign focused on national development, economic recovery, and good governance.
The development has generated significant political interest, as Atiku, a former vice president and perennial presidential aspirant, seeks to return to the highest office in the land. His emergence as ADC candidate adds a new dimension to the 2027 political landscape.
