ADC uploads Atiku, Amaechi as presidential, VP candidates

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has confirmed the successful upload of the nomination details for its presidential and vice-presidential candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal. The party's standard-bearer is former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, while former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi is the running mate.

Party confirms submission to INEC

The National Publicity Secretary of ADC, Bolaji Abdullahi, announced the development via his X handle on Tuesday night. He described the submission as a critical milestone in the party's preparation for the forthcoming general elections.

“We are pleased to announce the successful upload of the names and particulars of our presidential and vice-presidential candidates to the INEC nomination portal,” Abdullahi stated. “This marks another important step in our preparations for the 2027 general election and our commitment to offer Nigerians a credible alternative built on competence, unity, and national renewal.”

Coalition signals political realignment

The move formalizes the alliance between Atiku, who was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in 2023, and Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State and ex-Transport Minister under the All Progressives Congress (APC). Their joint ticket under the ADC banner represents a major political realignment ahead of the 2027 polls.

According to the party, the upload fulfills all statutory requirements and demonstrates ADC's readiness to participate fully in the electoral process. The party urged its supporters to remain steadfast as it continues to build a coalition aimed at unseating the ruling APC.
