The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on Nigerians not to lose hope in the country as Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, expressing confidence that the nation can rise again.
ADC's Eid-el-Kabir Message
The ADC conveyed this message to Nigerians on Wednesday in a press statement signed by the party's National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi. The statement extended warm Eid-el-Kabir greetings to Muslim faithful across Nigeria and the world, celebrating the season of sacrifice, faith, obedience, and compassion.
The opposition party acknowledged the widespread economic hardship, rising food prices, unemployment, and insecurity under the current government. It noted that this year's Sallah comes at an exceptionally difficult period for many Nigerians, with millions of families struggling under the weight of these challenges.
The ADC lamented that many citizens are uncertain about tomorrow and that many homes carry burdens heavier than ever before. However, the statement urged citizens to maintain hope and faith for a better future, promoting the party's vision of responsible leadership focused on youth, farmers, businesses, and national unity.
Faith in Difficult Seasons
Abdullahi emphasized that Eid-el-Kabir reminds everyone that faith is most meaningful in difficult seasons. He stated that this lesson is especially important for Nigeria today, adding that the ADC believes deeply that beyond the hardship and frustration lies the possibility of a stronger, safer, and more prosperous nation.
“We believe in a Nigeria where real leadership works for the people, where young people can dream again, where farmers can return safely to their farms, where businesses can grow, and where ordinary citizens can once again live with dignity and hope,” Abdullahi said.
The ADC urged citizens not to surrender to despair, stressing that the darkness of today must not blind them to the possibilities of tomorrow. History has shown that nations recover when citizens refuse to stop believing in a better future.
Call to Leaders
The party also called on leaders across all levels to reflect on the deeper meaning of responsibility during this season. It prayed for peace, healing for hurting communities, relief for struggling families, and unity among Nigerians across religious and ethnic lines.
“Above all, we remain confident that Nigeria can still rise again,” the statement concluded.
