Akwa Ibom Leaders Back Tinubu, Eno for 2027

Key Political Figures Throw Weight Behind 2027 Re-election Bids

In a significant political development, the Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government (SSG), Prince Enobong Uwah, and the Chairman of the Akwa Ibom chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Honourable Uwemedimo Udo, have declared the total support of Uyo Local Government Area for the All Progressives Congress (APC). During a major party gathering held last weekend, both leaders unanimously endorsed President Bola Tinubu and State Governor Pastor Umo Eno for a second term in the 2027 general elections.

Strategic APC 'Homegoing' Meeting Strengthens Grassroots Links

The event, which was the first APC meeting organized by the party's leader in Akwa Ibom, Pastor Umo Eno, was tagged "Homegoing." This strategic initiative was designed to connect with party faithful at the grassroots level across all 31 local government areas in the state. Prince Uwah, who serves as the Political Leader of Uyo, emphasized that residents would continue to support the administrations of both President Tinubu and Governor Eno due to their demonstrated fairness, inclusiveness, and commitment to development.

He conveyed a direct message from the Governor, stating, "I bring you warm greetings from His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, who asked me to sincerely thank you for your continuous support for his administration. As you know, the very first appointment announced by the governor was that of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG). With such recognition, why wouldn't Uyo stand firmly behind his administration?" Uwah then charged all APC members to intensify mobilisation efforts in preparation for the crucial 2027 polls.

Unified Front: Confidence in APC's Dominance and Future Victory

Dr. Uwemedimo Udo, who is both the State ALGON Chairman and the Chairman of Uyo Council, described the "Homegoing" meeting as a masterstroke in strengthening the APC's structure and reaffirming its relevance within the state's political arena. He praised the SSG for his guidance and consistent support to people across all wards in Uyo LGA, while also highlighting Governor Eno's impressive track record in project and contract administration.

This sentiment of a unified front was echoed by other prominent figures. The APC Chapter Chairman in Uyo Local Government Area, Mr. Gabriel Ikpe, in his welcome address, applauded stakeholders and members for their steadfast commitment. He boldly declared, "There is only one political party—APC—in Akwa Ibom State. We have confidence that the party will record a resounding victory in the 2027 elections."

Adding to this, the member representing Uyo State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Mr. Uwemedimo Asuquo, provided a compelling justification for Uyo's alignment with the APC. He pointed out that Governor Eno has appointed key officials from Uyo, including the SSG, the ALGON Chairman, and the UCCDA Chairman. "With such representation," he noted, "Uyo people have no reason to assume an opposition stance." He expressed absolute confidence that the area would deliver for the APC in the forthcoming election.

The highlight of the well-attended gathering was the accreditation and revalidation of APC membership. In a symbolic act of consolidation, the party's register from the 11 wards in Uyo was officially handed over to Prince Enobong Uwah, cementing his role as the political leader of the area and setting the stage for the campaigns to come.
