Lagos APC Blasts PDP Over 'Surrendered to Terrorists' Claim Against Tinubu
APC Fires Back at PDP Over Tinubu Security Claims

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a strong rebuttal against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), dismissing its allegation that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has surrendered the nation to terrorists.

A Clash of Narratives on National Security

In a statement released on Monday, November 24, 2025, and signed by the party's spokesman, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, the APC described the PDP's claims as a product of intellectual laziness and a desperate attempt to remain politically relevant. The ruling party firmly stated that the successful rescue of the Eruku 38 and the ongoing efforts to free other captives are clear demonstrations of effective leadership, not capitulation.

The APC accused the opposition party of politicising critical security matters for selfish gain, alleging that the PDP thrives on narratives of insecurity and economic hardship. The party also condemned the PDP's criticism of the government's decision to temporarily shut down schools in areas with security concerns, labelling the precaution a strategic protection measure for children.

Tinubu's Leadership and PDP's Record Under Scrutiny

The APC highlighted specific actions taken by President Tinubu to address the security challenges, including his decision to cancel a foreign trip to personally coordinate rescue operations and his comprehensive overhaul of the country's defence architecture. The party emphasised that this level of commitment ensures Nigeria will not return to an era of helplessness, which it claims defined the PDP's 16-year rule.

Furthermore, the APC questioned the moral standing of the PDP to lecture on security, pointing to the opposition's historical record. The party accused the PDP of watching Boko Haram transform into a major threat, losing Nigerian territories to terrorists, engaging in ransom payments, and allowing the mass abduction of citizens during its tenure.

Oladejo's Stern Rebuke of the Opposition

Mogaji Seye Oladejo did not mince words in his criticism. He stated, "Nothing exposes the PDP's hypocrisy more than the successful rescue of the Eruku 38. Their safe return – secured through intelligence-driven, coordinated operations – has shattered the opposition's dream of a collapsing nation."

He added that the progress towards freeing other captives is a result of dedicated leadership, contrasting it with what he called the "emotional press releases and tearful excuses" of the PDP's era. Oladejo also condemned the PDP's description of President Tinubu's decision to cancel his foreign trip as "tokenism," calling it "the height of mindlessness and illogical reasoning."

He concluded, "When a Commander-in-Chief suspends foreign engagements to coordinate a national security operation, it is called leadership – not the nonchalance that defined the PDP era." The APC ultimately urged the PDP to cease weaponising insecurity and to instead offer constructive criticism in support of national security efforts.
