Oluwafemi Fadairo, a prominent aspirant for the Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has dismissed rumors of his withdrawal from the race and expressed confidence in securing the party's ticket during the primary election held on Saturday.
Peaceful and Credible Primary
Fadairo commended the peaceful and orderly nature of the primary, describing it as evidence of a credible process that will favor his emergence as the party's candidate. He spoke shortly after participating in the exercise at Ward 8, Oke Aro, in Akure, Ondo State.
Uncontested in His Ward
The aspirant, who is the immediate past Senior Special Assistant on Community Engagement (Central) to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, noted that being the sole aspirant contesting in his ward reflected the trust and acceptance he enjoys among constituents. “The fact that I am the only aspirant contesting in this ward speaks volumes. It shows that people recognise and appreciate good representation,” he said.
Denial of Withdrawal
Addressing speculations about his alleged withdrawal from the race, Fadairo dismissed the claims as unfounded, insisting that he remains fully in the contest. “I did not step down for anybody. If anyone steps down from an election, there must be an official letter stating that. That is not the case here,” he asserted.
He further stressed that there was no basis for him to withdraw after making significant commitments to the race and receiving the backing of party faithful. “I bought my nomination form for N10 million. Why should I step down? I am a peace-loving person, and I believe in due process, not intimidation or unnecessary conflict. The people have come out to cast their votes for me, and that shows clearly that I am still very much in the race,” he added.
Gratitude to Governor
Fadairo also expressed appreciation to Governor Aiyedatiwa for the opportunity to serve in his administration, saying the platform had enabled him to empower communities and make meaningful contributions to the people.
