APC Revises Senate Aspirants List After Ex-Senator Outburst, Drops Name
APC Revises Senate Aspirants List, Drops Ex-Senator

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released an updated list of senatorial aspirants who are not cleared to participate in the party's ongoing Senate primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections. The initial list published earlier contained 47 names, including that of former Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, who represented Bayelsa State from 2015 to 2019.

However, the revised list, signed by the party's spokesperson, Felix Morka, now contains 44 names, with Murray-Bruce's name conspicuously absent. The APC has urged all stakeholders to ensure transparency and orderliness during the primaries, emphasizing the importance of integrity in the electoral process.

Ex-Senator Denies Disqualification

In a social media post, Murray-Bruce denied that he had withdrawn or been disqualified. He stated that he contacted the party chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, to clarify the situation. He said, 'I have neither withdrawn nor been disqualified. These are very fluid times, and it would be in the best interest of journalistic excellence to exercise caution and verification, rather than utilise speed in your reportage.'

The APC has not officially commented on why Murray-Bruce's name was removed from the list, but the development follows his public criticism of the party's primary process.
