The United States chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally congratulated the party's National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, along with the recently elected members of the National Working Committee (NWC), on their successful election. In a statement released on behalf of the diaspora community, the group characterized the election outcome as a clear reflection of widespread confidence in the party's leadership and direction.
Statement from APC USA Leadership
Professor Taiwo Ajibolu Balofin, who serves as both the APC USA Chairman and the Special Adviser to the APC National Chairman on Diaspora Affairs, issued the congratulatory message. He praised the convention process as a robust testament to the party's unwavering commitment to internal democracy and unity. Professor Balofin emphasized that the election results demonstrated the significant trust placed in Professor Yilwatda and the NWC by stakeholders across Nigeria and within the global diaspora network.
He specifically commended Professor Yilwatda for his effective efforts in stabilizing and uniting the party during his relatively short tenure thus far. Balofin noted that the National Chairman's re-election underscores the deep confidence party members have in his leadership capabilities, describing it as a well-deserved recognition of his dedication and strategic approach to party administration and governance.
Diaspora Role in APC's Agenda
Highlighting the critical role of the diaspora in the APC's broader national agenda, APC USA expressed satisfaction with existing initiatives aimed at actively engaging members living abroad. Professor Balofin urged all overseas chapters to participate vigorously and support the vision and objectives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda. He stressed that the diaspora community plays a pivotal role in projecting Nigeria positively on the international stage and in promoting the party's developmental policies and economic strategies.
The APC USA further reassured party stakeholders of its steadfast commitment to advancing the policies and initiatives of the APC on a global scale. The group underscored the responsibility of diaspora members to act as ambassadors of Nigeria, fostering international goodwill, encouraging foreign investment, and building positive diplomatic relations worldwide.
Addressing Internal Unity and Future Collaboration
In addressing internal differences, Professor Balofin made a direct appeal to any aggrieved members within the diaspora to utilize established conflict resolution mechanisms to resolve disputes amicably. He emphasized the paramount importance of maintaining peace, engaging in constructive dialogue, and fostering a spirit of constructive engagement to strengthen party cohesion.
He reiterated the chapter's dedication to enhancing collaboration between diaspora members and the party's national leadership. Balofin highlighted ongoing efforts to ensure that the voices and perspectives of Nigerians abroad are effectively integrated into the party's strategic planning and decision-making processes.
The statement concluded by affirming APC USA's readiness to support party initiatives and reinforce unity across all levels. The chapter committed to contributing actively to the APC's continued growth and to Nigeria's overall development, both within the nation's borders and throughout the global diaspora community.
