The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has finalized plans to conduct its governorship primary election in Oyo State on Thursday, as political activities for the 2027 general elections intensify. The primary and affirmation exercise will take place at the Watershed Event Centre in Ibadan, drawing party faithful, stakeholders, and supporters from across the state.
Primary Elections for Other Offices
The event will also include primary elections for candidates seeking tickets for the Senate, House of Representatives, and Oyo State House of Assembly across the state's senatorial districts, federal constituencies, and state constituencies.
Consensus Candidate Emerges
Bimbo Adekanmbi, a chieftain of the party, is set to emerge as the consensus governorship candidate of the APM ahead of the exercise. Party officials stated that the primary election is part of efforts to consolidate the party's structure and enhance its political relevance for the upcoming electoral cycle in the state.
The gathering is expected to attract prominent political figures and observers from within and outside Oyo State. According to party sources, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State is anticipated to attend, a development that has sparked discussions among political stakeholders and party supporters.
