Delta North Senate Primary Not Over Yet, Says Ned Nwoko

Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Ned Nwoko, has cautioned those celebrating his perceived loss in the All Progressives Congress (APC) straw poll to exercise restraint. Speaking through his Director of Media, Tonnie Oganah, Nwoko warned that those claiming victory risk violating the law, as the official and authentic results can only be announced from the APC National Headquarters in Abuja.

Official Results Await National Announcement

He stressed that until the result is signed by APC chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, no one should create the impression of factions within the party. “All the candidates in the election have their strongholds, and announcing partial results amounts to half-truths, which are embellished lies capable of misleading the public,” Nwoko said.

Legislative Agenda and Anioma Dream

In response to attempts to derail his legislative agenda, Nwoko emphasized that his senatorial mandate represents the Anioma dream of identity and economic liberation. He expressed determination to see Anioma produce three senators and nine House of Representatives members, instead of the current one senator and three representatives. He also hoped that the list of State Assembly members and councillors would triple as new local council areas are created, with Asaba remaining the state capital.

“Anioma people don’t want to enter the Guinness Book of Records for negativity by not supporting Ned Nwoko and President Bola Tinubu, both of whom are working to actualise the dream of empowering Nigerians generally and the Anioma nation in particular,” he stated.

Party Supremacy and Legal Considerations

Nwoko noted that the party is supreme and will consider several factors before officially naming its flag bearer, including the absence of EFCC baggage or pending criminal matters. He added that there must be clear evidence of resignation from a former political party before membership in a new party can be valid under electoral law and the APC constitution. “Membership of two or more political parties is an offence, and no one is above the law,” he warned.

He maintained that Anioma people are not foolish enough to abandon their bright future for crumbs and inducements offered by other candidates. Nwoko recalled being the first top politician in Delta State to openly declare support for Tinubu and the APC long before others. He assured that during the elections in January 2027, the entire Anioma nation will thank the President by voting for the APC all the way.
