Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has expressed optimism that technical glitches experienced during voting at some polling units will be resolved, calling on voters to remain patient. Reports earlier on Saturday indicated that some voters faced difficulty being captured by the biometric verification machines.
Governor Speaks After Voting
Speaking with journalists after casting his vote at Polling Unit 003, Oyebanji's Compound, Registration Area 06, Ekiti West, on Saturday, Mr Oyebanji said he had received assurances from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that all voters who came out to vote would be allowed to do so. “I want to appeal to our people to be patient, because everyone will vote. I have received assurances from INEC that all those who came out will be allowed to vote,” he said.
Impressive Turnout and Peaceful Exercise
The governor also noted that based on reports he had gathered so far, the voter turnout was impressive and the exercise remained peaceful. “The report is positive and voting is going on smoothly,” he said. “The turnout is also very impressive. I am happy that people heeded my call for them to come out en masse to cast their votes.”
Optimism for Victory
Flanked by his wife, the governor expressed confidence in securing victory, which he said would enable him to continue the development plans he has for the state. The election, dubbed #EkitiDecides2026, features Oyebanji, Oluyede, and 12 other candidates in the governorship race.
