A socio-political group, the Yayi Progressives Movement, has donated ₦1 billion to support the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Inauguration and Donation Event
The group disclosed this in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, during the official inauguration of its support structure for the “Yayi 2027 Project.” It also unveiled 27 buses for mobilisation and campaign activities ahead of the election.
Speaking at the event, the Convener of the Yayi Progressives Movement, Armstrong Tope Akintunde, said the group is fully committed to the political ambitions of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Yayi, and Governor Dapo Abiodun, expressing confidence in what he described as strong mobilisation strength.
Commitment to Political Leadership
Akintunde added that the movement has come to stay, noting that directives from Governor Abiodun serve as motivation to deliver the state. He urged members to embark on door-to-door campaigns across all parts of the state. He also expressed confidence that President Tinubu would secure massive votes across southern Nigeria.
According to him, the group has already established political structures across all 20 local government areas of Ogun State and is actively mobilising support for the 2027 ambitions of Yayi, Tinubu, and Abiodun.
“Our votes will be the highest so far in the entire southern Nigeria. Yayi is 100 per cent, and President Tinubu is 100 per cent,” he said.
Governor Abiodun's Leadership Acknowledged
He added that Governor Abiodun has provided strong political leadership in the state. “We cannot do all that we have done without acknowledging the leadership of Governor Abiodun. The Yayi Progressives Movement has come to stay, and following his directive, we are going to deliver Ogun State,” he said. “He has given us a marching order to ensure that by 2027, Ogun State delivers the highest votes in the entire South-West.”
Akintunde further praised the governor’s performance, describing his leadership as impactful in the area of security and governance in the state.
Earlier in his remarks, the Ogun State Coordinator of the movement, Hon. Segun Kaka, commended APC leaders for unanimously adopting Yayi as consensus candidate. He also commended Gov. Dapo Abiodun, assuring that the group will mobilise and stand strongly behind him.
