A New Home for Democracy in Cross River

In a significant move for the political landscape of Cross River State, the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has officially opened its new state secretariat. The government of Cross River State generously provided the facility, with the commissioning ceremony taking place in Calabar on Thursday, November 21, 2025.

Unprecedented Government Support Hailed

Speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Inter-Party Affairs, Hon. Nkoyo Otu, praised the state governor for his exceptional backing. She declared that such a level of support, which includes the provision of office space, financial subvention, and a vehicle, has never happened in the history of the state.

Hon. Otu emphasized that this gesture reflects Governor Bassey Otu's deep commitment to strengthening governance structures and putting the people first. She also commended the administration's transformative achievements in infrastructure, agriculture, and education, expressing strong optimism for the upcoming 2027 general elections.

A Step Towards Institutionalizing Democracy

In his keynote address, the IPAC Chairman, Engr. Effiom Edet Okon, described the inauguration as a crucial step towards institutionalizing the council. He stated that this development will enhance IPAC's role in promoting democracy and good governance within the state.

Engr. Okon praised Governor Otu for demonstrating uncommon leadership and commitment to democracy. He called on all political parties in Cross River to embrace unity and collaborate closely to ensure free, fair, and credible elections in 2027.

The event's highlight was the official tape-cutting ceremony to unveil the new office, performed by Hon. Nkoyo Otu on behalf of the Chief of Staff, Honourable Emmanuel Ironbar.
