Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has stated that the state currently has no opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and that he is unapologetic about the one-party system in the state. Speaking on Friday during a media tour of the state and other North-Western states, the governor commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for substantial infrastructural investments in the North.
"That is the reason the whole of Kaduna State will forever be grateful to President Tinubu-led government. And I can assure you that Kaduna State as we speak has no opposition. That is the fact of the matter. Kaduna is a one-party state and I have no apology for that," the governor said.
Sani also criticized those who allege poor performance of the administration in the North, maintaining that the region has benefited more than the South under President Tinubu. The governor recalled the sacrifices made by Tinubu and others, including himself, to entrench democracy in Nigeria, stressing that the opposition coalition is only working to truncate democracy rather than develop it as they pretend.
"We know that people are fighting for political office but we also know they are fighting to truncate this democracy and that is the reason we have no option but to resist them. And the only way we can resist them is to continue to support President Tinubu, who is the only person among them with political and democratic qualifications. Most of them are talking about democracy. What do they know about democracy? We were detained in Kaduna here by the military junta. I was in detention when former President Sanni Abacha died. I was only released because Abacha died. I know a lot of people are talking about Northern Nigeria. Let me make it clear to all of you: President Tinubu has done to the North more than any leader in the history of Nigeria and I can give you some facts," Sani added.
The governor highlighted two major projects approved for Kaduna: a Light Rail project covering about 50km corridor at a cost of N1 trillion, and the construction of the 122km Mandu-Birnin Gwari Road for about N178 billion, a road abandoned for over two decades. He questioned critics who claim Tinubu supports only the South, noting that Kaduna is in the North.
The tour, organized by Renewed Hope Ambassadors, showcased critical road and rail infrastructure funded through the Federal Government Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund, as well as projects executed by the state government under the Sani administration. According to the organizers, the tour aimed to present media with empirical evidence of Tinubu's government achievements.
