Hon. Oluremi Oluwalogbon Odunsi, a House of Representatives aspirant for Kosofe Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has rejected the results that are being circulated from the party's primary election held on Saturday, 16 May 2026. She insists that no election took place in the constituency.
Odunsi stated that the figures and declarations currently being spread do not reflect any actual voting process. In a statement, she described the development as a breach of the procedures set out by the APC for conducting primaries. She said, “I reject the purported results being circulated and announced in respect of the primary election held yesterday.” According to her, the rejection is based on the fact that no voting occurred in Kosofe Federal Constituency on the scheduled date.
Alleged Violation of Party Guidelines
The aspirant lamented that the circulating figures and declarations are being spread despite the absence of an election. She argued that this situation undermines the credibility of the process and violates the party’s internal guidelines. Odunsi called on the leadership and stakeholders of the APC to intervene promptly to protect the integrity of the primary and ensure that democratic standards are upheld. She added that the party’s reputation depends on transparent and credible internal elections.
“Accordingly, I do not recognise or accept the purported outcome being circulated. Acknowledging the results would amount to endorsing a process that did not follow due process,” she said. Odunsi further revealed that a formal petition and appeal detailing her observations, concerns, and requests have already been submitted to the appropriate party authorities for urgent review. She expects the party to examine the matter and take necessary corrective action.
Call for Investigation
The aspirant urged party officials at the state and national levels to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged announcement of results. She said only a thorough review could restore confidence among aspirants, delegates, and party members in Kosofe. Odunsi reaffirmed her commitment to the APC and its democratic values, stating that her action is aimed at strengthening the party rather than causing division. She emphasised that adherence to procedure is essential for party unity and cohesion ahead of the general elections.
She however said she remains committed to the integrity, unity, and democratic principles of the APC. As of press time, the party is yet to issue an official response to the claims.
