Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) turned out in large numbers across wards in Oron, Mbo, Okobo, Udung Uko, and Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State for the party’s direct primary election, where they overwhelmingly voted for Hon. Martins Esin as the APC candidate for Oron Federal Constituency ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
Esin Returns Unopposed
Esin, the current member representing Oron/Mbo/Okobo/Udung Uko/Urue Offong/Oruko Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and Chairman of the House Committee on Youth Development, was returned unopposed as the APC candidate after securing affirmative votes across the constituency. The exercise recorded massive participation, with party members describing the process as peaceful and well-coordinated.
Deputy Governor Commends Process
Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, expressed satisfaction with the turnout and the peaceful conduct of the primaries across Oron Federal Constituency. Speaking after participating in the voting exercise at Ward 9, Government Primary School, Oron, Eyakenyi commended Governor Umo Eno for what she described as his peaceful disposition and inclusive leadership style.
She noted that the governor’s pragmatic leadership has helped foster unity in the state, ensuring a rancour-free primary process without incidents of violence, intimidation, or voter harassment. Eyakenyi added that the high turnout reflected the APC’s growing acceptance in Oron Nation and the people’s support for Governor Umo Eno, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Senator Ekong Sampson, Rep. Martins Esin, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
She also thanked stakeholders and community leaders for their support for the administration, adding that Esin’s emergence as the sole candidate reflected overwhelming endorsement from delegates. Senior APC stakeholders in the constituency attributed the peaceful exercise and massive turnout to effective mobilisation and inclusive leadership by the state government.
Esin Pledges Effective Representation
In his acceptance remarks, Esin pledged to deliver more effective, efficient, and people-oriented representation if re-elected to the National Assembly. He expressed gratitude to party members, delegates, and supporters for their confidence in him, promising renewed commitment to grassroots development and responsive leadership.
According to him, his priority would be to attract federal presence to the constituency, empower youths and women, and ensure stronger representation of constituents’ interests at the National Assembly. “This victory is not just for me, but for the entire people of Oron Federal Constituency. I am committed to effective, efficient and people-oriented representation that will positively impact our people,” Esin said.
He further promised to work closely with community leaders, youth groups, and other stakeholders to advance socio-economic development in the area. Party supporters and stakeholders described his emergence as a victory for unity and progress, expressing optimism that the APC would record strong performance in the upcoming general elections.
