NDC Extends Deadline for Legislative, Governorship Forms

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced an extension of the deadline for the collection of Expression of Interest Forms for aspirants seeking elective positions in the upcoming 2027 elections. The new deadline is set for midnight on Sunday, May 24, 2026, moving it from the original cutoff of 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2026.

Extension Details

According to a statement issued by the party’s National Secretary, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, and shared on the party's X account on Monday morning, the extension applies to aspirants contesting for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and Governorship positions. The decision was made to allow more aspirants the opportunity to complete the process.

However, the party clarified that the collection of Expression of Interest Forms for the office of the President has officially closed, and no further submissions will be accepted for that position.

The party specified that all documents submitted to the Screening Committee must be in six copies each.

The screening committee has also been instructed to adhere to the party’s affirmative action policy for women, youths, and persons living with disabilities.

Consensus and Compliance

The NDC encouraged consensus-building among aspirants, emphasizing that only those successfully screened and cleared will be eligible to purchase nomination forms. The statement concluded with a firm reminder: “All aspirants are required to ensure strict compliance with the deadline, as no extension will be granted beyond the closing date.”
