Oden Ewa has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Cross River Central Senatorial District Primary Election, securing the party's ticket for the 2027 general elections. The Returning Officer, Eyo NSA Ekpo, announced the result on Monday after the collation exercise at the Ikom Local Council Hall.
Ewa garnered 32,426 votes, while his closest rival, Mary Ekpere, received 991 votes, and Eteng Jones got 726 votes. The former Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs under Governor Bassey Edet Otu expressed gratitude to party leaders, delegates, members, and supporters, noting that the landslide victory reflects his dedication to the development of his district, state, and people over the years.
Ewa also commended Governor Otu for providing a level playing field and ensuring stability, peace, and progress in the state since his administration began. He thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve in his government for nearly three years and for allowing him to contest the primary as a first-time candidate.
He urged his followers not to take the overwhelming victory for granted, emphasizing that it is a call for further work, as the main challenge of winning the general election lies ahead. Ewa extended an olive branch to his fellow contestants, urging them to unite and work with him to secure victory for the party.
"My victory is a victory for everyone, a collective victory and not an individual," he said. "It is a call for all of us to close ranks and work together in ensuring that this resounding success is recorded at the 2027 general elections because the task of keeping our party, APC, the District, and in power, is a greater task that we must all work together to achieve."
Ewa pledged his commitment to the party, members, and supporters, stating that the trust placed in him is historic and paramount. He assured them that he would not betray the mandate. He also called on the people to continue promoting peace, unity, and harmony within the party and the state.
