Ogbeide-Ihama Seeks Unity in Edo South APC

Former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, has called for unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo South Senatorial District following his victory at the party's senatorial primary election. Ogbeide-Ihama, who emerged victorious over former Edo governorship candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, and serving senator, Neda Imasuen, appealed to both aspirants and their supporters to close ranks ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The former lawmaker, in a statement on Tuesday, described the primary election as deeply emotional and profoundly humbling, while thanking party leaders, supporters and stakeholders across the district. The APC candidate particularly extended what he described as a “heartfelt olive branch” to Ize-Iyamu and Imasuen, stressing that the period after the primaries should be dedicated to reconciliation and collective progress.

“At this point, I must specially extend a heartfelt olive branch to my respected elder brothers and fellow aspirants, Osagie Ize-Iyamu and Neda Imasuen. The build-up to these primaries was understandably intense and passionate, as is natural in every democratic contest. However, with the primaries now concluded, the time has come for unity, reconciliation, and collective purpose. We are members of one political family, united by a shared responsibility to advance the growth and prosperity of Edo South and ensure the victory of our great party in the January 2027 general elections,” he said.

Ogbeide-Ihama said he held both politicians in “very high regard,” adding that the task ahead required all stakeholders to work together “as brothers and partners in progress.” The former lawmaker also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, the APC leadership, party faithful and supporters for their roles in his emergence.

He assured residents of Edo South of purposeful representation and development if elected at the general election. “As we move forward, I want to assure you that brighter and better days lie ahead,” he said. “By the grace of God and with your continued support into the general elections, we are positioned to open a new chapter of purposeful representation, strategic influence, and meaningful development for our district.”
