Bauchi PDP Declares Wike's 'National Leader' Title Illegal, Rejects Eviction Threats
PDP Bauchi: Calling Wike 'National Leader' is Illegal

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State has taken a firm legal stand, declaring it unconstitutional and illegal to refer to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as the national leader of the party. The state chapter emphasized that Wike has been expelled from the party.

PDP Dismisses Threats and Eviction Notices

In a strong rebuttal, the party also described threats issued by loyalists of the minister to vacate the state party offices as "null, void, illegal, and of absolutely no effect." The PDP's position was made clear during a press briefing held on Saturday, December 21, 2024.

The State Publicity Secretary, Dayyabu Chiroma, addressed journalists, condemning what he called "thinly veiled threats and reckless accusations" from Wike's camp. He stated that such actions were pre-emptive attempts to assign blame for hypothetical violence, which he labeled as irresponsible and a sign of troubling desperation.

"We ask: what legitimate authority resorts to intimidation rather than law, and what lawful leadership governs by fear instead of constitutional process?" Chiroma questioned, highlighting the party's commitment to democratic principles.

Commitment to Law and Order

Chiroma asserted that the PDP in Bauchi State remains a law-abiding political organization. He reiterated its firm commitment to peace, democratic engagement, and strict adherence to the rule of law. The chapter, he said, would not be intimidated by "alarmist rhetoric" designed to create artificial tension or a false sense of crisis.

Addressing the emergence of a splinter group loyal to the FCT Minister, the Publicity Secretary was unequivocal. He described any faction aligned with Wike as illegal, stating that its formation negates the proper process and the constitution of the PDP.

Illegitimate Eviction Directives

Speaking specifically on the directive ordering party members to leave PDP secretariats across Bauchi State, Dayyabu Chiroma again declared the order invalid. He challenged the authority of those behind the move, posing a pointed question: "by what authority do impostors issue eviction notices over party property they neither control nor lawfully administer?"

This development marks a significant escalation in the internal conflict within the PDP, with the Bauchi State chapter drawing a clear legal and constitutional line against the influence of the expelled former governor and current FCT Minister.
