Peter Obi Pledges Single Term If Elected President

Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has announced that he will serve only one term if elected president in the 2027 general elections. The former Anambra State governor made this declaration during an interview on News Central TV on Thursday.

One-Term Pledge for Stability

Obi stated, “I want to be a one-term president because of stability. I would not stay a day longer than four years, even with a gun to my head.” He emphasized that his commitment to a single term is aimed at ensuring political stability and focused governance.

Criticism of Current Administration

The 2023 presidential candidate, who finished third in the election, also strongly criticized President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies, excessive borrowing, and the rising cost of living in Nigeria. Obi argued that these issues have exacerbated the hardships faced by ordinary citizens.

Recent Party Defection

It is noteworthy that Obi recently defected from the African Democratic Party (ADC) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). During his time in the ADC, he had already pledged to serve as a one-term president, a promise he has reiterated in his new political platform.
