Kogi APC Rocked by Sudden Loss of Three Key Figures

The political landscape in Kogi State was plunged into grief on Monday, January 12, following the announcement of the death of three prominent chieftains of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The state's Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, confirmed the devastating news in an official statement released from the capital, Lokoja.

The deceased are Hon. Onojah James Ignatius, Special Adviser to the Governor and former Chairman of Igalamela Local Government Area; Hon. Jatto Onimisi Suleiman, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor; and Alhaji Alih Atabo, the APC Chairman for Anyigba Ward in Dekina Local Government Area.

Government and Party Express Profound Sorrow

In his statement, Fanwo conveyed the deep sadness felt by both the Kogi State Government and the people of the state. He described the departed as distinguished sons who served with remarkable loyalty, dedication, and commitment to both the state and the APC.

The commissioner did not disclose the specific causes of their deaths. However, he relayed the heartfelt condolences of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to the bereaved families, friends, political associates, and the entire APC family within Kogi State.

Mixed Reactions Trail the News

The news of the triple tragedy has sparked varied reactions from Nigerians, particularly on social media platforms. While many have offered prayers and messages of condolence, the deaths have also ignited speculative and politically charged commentary.

Some citizens, like Adeyemi, condemned those making light of the deaths, urging respect for the deceased. Others, such as Chiedozie Onyeke, offered prayers, hoping the departed souls would rest in peace.

However, the lack of detailed information surrounding the circumstances of their passing led to demands for clarity. Commenter Ajayi Ogidiolu explicitly questioned, "When did they die? Died or killed? The information is not really clear." This sentiment highlights the public's desire for more transparency from official channels following such significant losses.

The passing of these three political figures represents a significant moment for the APC in Kogi State, creating a void in the party's local structure and governance apparatus. The focus now shifts to mourning their contributions and supporting those they left behind.
