APC Presidential Primary: Tinubu Triumphs in Imo State

President Bola Tinubu has been declared the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) direct presidential primary held across all 305 Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)-recognized political wards in the 27 local government areas of Imo State. The announcement was made on Saturday at the central collation center located at the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre in Owerri.

The State Collation Officer for the APC Presidential Primary in Imo State, who is also the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, announced that Tinubu garnered a total of 582,960 votes, significantly outpacing his sole challenger, Stanley Osifo, who managed only 103 votes. The exercise was witnessed by officials from INEC, APC party officials, the electoral committee, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies.

In Oru East Local Government Area, which is Governor Uzodimma's home LGA, the collation officer was Dr. Chike Okafor, the member representing Ehime Mbano, Ihitte Uboma, and Obowo federal constituency, as well as chairman of the House Committee on Nutrition. Dr. Okafor oversaw the collation of results from ten wards: Akuma, Akatta, Amagu, Amiri I, Amiri II, Awo-Omamma I, Awo-Omamma II, Awo-Omamma III, Awo-Omamma IV, and Omuma.

Notable figures present during the exercise in Oru East included the State Party Chairman, Chief Austin Onyedebelu; the Commissioner for Rural Development, Chief Ifeanyi Oruh; the member representing Oru-East State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Chiagozie Nwanneri; the APC candidate for Oru East State Constituency, Uche Obiozor; the Oru East LGA APC chairman, Chief Odih; and former LGA party chairmen, Sir Alban Amasiatu and Chief Bernard Nwanana, among others.
