President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been declared the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election in Ogun State, securing a total of 322,485 votes. He defeated his sole challenger, Stanley Osifo, who failed to garner any votes across the state.
Announcement of Results
The results were announced at the state collation center on Friday by Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, who served as the APC presidential primary collation officer. Abiodun stated that the outcome reflected the unity of the state and its commitment to the continuity of the Tinubu administration beyond 2027.
Voter Statistics
According to the governor, the total number of registered voters was 343,407, with 323,164 accredited voters. The total votes cast amounted to 322,485, indicating a high voter turnout. The results were compiled from reports submitted by returning officers from all 20 local government areas.
Breakdown of Votes
A detailed breakdown showed Tinubu winning overwhelmingly across all local governments. For instance, he secured 26,043 votes in Abeokuta North, 24,948 in Abeokuta South, 39,100 in Ado-Odo/Ota, 19,319 in Sagamu, and 24,207 in Ifo. Stanley Osifo reportedly received zero votes in every local government area.
Governor's Remarks
Declaring the result, Abiodun said: “At the end of the voting exercise, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu scored 322,485 votes, while Stanley Osifo scored zero votes. By the authority of the National Working Committee, I hereby declare President Bola Ahmed Tinubu winner of the Ogun State presidential primary election.” The governor praised Tinubu for his strong leadership during a critical period for the country and noted that the APC's consensus approach had strengthened party unity and cohesion.
