244,000 Sokoto Residents to Receive Federal Cash Support Under Renewed Hope
244,000 Sokoto Residents Get Federal Financial Aid

More than 244,000 residents across Sokoto State are set to receive financial assistance from the Federal Government under the Renewed Hope Agenda Programme, according to an announcement made during a stakeholders' meeting on Monday.

Massive Reach Across All Wards

Governor Ahmed Aliyu revealed that the program will provide support to 1,000 beneficiaries from each of the 244 wards in Sokoto State. This strategic approach ensures widespread coverage and aims to significantly reduce financial hardship among citizens.

The governor emphasized that Sokoto has distinguished itself as a leader among Nigerian states in implementing such initiatives, demonstrating the state government's strong commitment to improving living standards.

Ensuring Fair Distribution and New Beneficiaries

Governor Aliyu stressed that the program specifically targets residents who haven't benefited from previous government interventions. "Each citizen deserves to feel the impact of the government's initiatives, especially during these challenging times," he stated during the meeting.

He made it clear that this would be a one-time intervention, with no beneficiary receiving assistance more than once. This approach will create opportunities for new applicants to benefit from the program.

To ensure transparency in the selection process, a special committee will be established to identify deserving candidates across the state.

Implementation Timeline and Oversight

The financial intervention program is scheduled to launch in January of the upcoming year, marking a significant step toward enhancing social welfare in Sokoto State.

Governor Aliyu urged community leaders and stakeholders to actively involve all citizens in local governance matters. He also promised that the Projects Monitoring Committee would oversee ongoing developments in their respective areas.

Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko commended the governor's dedication to empowering Sokoto citizens and stressed the importance of fairness in distributing intervention program applications.

The State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Agenda, Hon. Haruna Sarkin Gobir, confirmed that the stakeholders' meeting aimed to properly inform the public about the upcoming financial intervention program.
