ADC Officially Names Imoke, Tambuwal, Atiku, Obi to Head Convention Committee
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially released updated lists for its Convention Committee and Subcommittees ahead of its forthcoming national convention. In a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party stated that this update is aimed at strengthening coordination and ensuring a smooth and credible convention process.
Key Appointments in the Convention Committee
In the official list, former Cross River State Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke, will chair the convention committee. Former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, will serve as vice chairman, while Dr. Ajuji Ahmed has been appointed as secretary. This announcement confirms a previous report by The Guardian regarding the composition of the National Convention Central Coordination Committee, which is slated for Tuesday, 14 April 2026.
Notable Members of the Planning Committee
The 22-member planning committee includes several high-profile political figures. Among them are former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Labour Party presidential candidate Mr. Peter Obi, former Kano State Governor Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former Rivers State Governor Honourable Rotimi Amaechi, former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, and former Imo State Governor Achike Udenwa. Additionally, the list features former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami SAN and former Imo State Governor Honourable Emeka Ihedioha, among others.
Subcommittee Leadership and Responsibilities
In slight changes to the subcommittee structure, former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Kola Ologbodiyan, will head the media and publicity committee. Lauretta Onochie has been appointed to lead the subcommittee on New Media, while Honourable Chille Wanger Igbawua will function as vice chairman of the committee on Electoral Affairs. The ADC has urged all committee members to discharge their responsibilities with diligence and called on stakeholders to support the process to ensure a successful convention.
