APC Chieftain Pledges to Integrate Majority of Obidient Movement into Ruling Party

In a significant political development, Comrade Isaac Balami, a prominent chieftain and youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has declared his intention to collapse and transfer over 70 percent of the Obidient structure into the APC. This move is part of a broader strategy to consolidate youth support and strengthen grassroots networks ahead of the 2027 general elections, as announced in a recent statement.

Congratulatory Message and Political Realignment

Balami extended congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, for what he described as a highly successful and unifying national convention. He emphasized that the consensus arrangement at the party's eighth National Convention reflects growing unity and internal stability within the ruling party. Balami, who previously served as Deputy Campaign Manager for the Obi/Datti presidential ticket under the Labour Party, attributed his decision to a clear conviction in the APC's leadership direction and the current administration's policies.

Inclusiveness and Strategic Mobilization

Highlighting the administration's efforts, Balami argued that it has provided a sense of inclusion for minority ethnic nationalities in the Middle Belt, encompassing both Muslim and Christian communities. He stressed that future presidential candidates must prioritize inclusiveness, particularly for historically marginalized regions, to gain broad national acceptance. Balami called on hesitant members of the Obidient movement to take a bold step, asserting that political relevance is tied to viable structures. He stated, As part of our commitment to national progress, I am proud to announce the integration of a significant portion of about 70 percent of the Obidient structure we built over the years into the APC. This is a structure powered by millions of politically conscious and highly mobilised young Nigerians, now aligned with the Renewed Hope agenda.

Grassroots Efforts and Future Plans

Reflecting on the Obi/Datti campaign, Balami noted its capacity, discipline, and reach across Nigeria, stating that the movement built substantial energy and organization. He plans to deploy this same commitment within the APC to achieve greater national impact. In the coming weeks, Balami intends to intensify grassroots mobilization, particularly in Northern Nigeria, as part of a strategic alignment to redefine political participation among young people. He expressed confidence that integrating youth-driven structures will enhance the APC's electoral strength, positioning it for a decisive victory in 2027.
