Benue Ex-Speaker's Kinsmen Accuse Governor Alia of Victimisation
Dajoh's Kinsmen Demand Reinstatement, Allege Bias

Kinsmen of former Benue State House of Assembly Speaker Hyacinth Dajoh have publicly accused Governor Hyacinth Alia of political victimization and demanded immediate reinstatement of their prominent son.

Press Conference Allegations

The allegations emerged during a weekend press conference in Makurdi organized by the Mbatiav Unity Forum (MUF). The group's President-General, Terwase Gbasha, led the presentation where they detailed what they described as systematic targeting of their kinsman.

The forum specifically accused Governor Alia of orchestrating Dajoh's removal from the speakership position based on what they termed "trumped up allegations." They expressed dismay at the treatment of their representative, emphasizing the lack of due process in the entire procedure.

Suspension Details and Extension

According to the MUF statement, the governor's interference didn't stop at the removal from the speaker position. "The governor did not stop at that, he further orchestrated the suspension of our said son, Hon. Aondona Hyacinth Dajoh, from the proceedings of the House for three months!" the group declared.

The situation worsened when the House recently reviewed the suspension, extending it by an additional six-month period. The forum highlighted that throughout these proceedings, Dajoh was never given the opportunity to defend himself against the allegations brought against him.

Demand for Immediate Action

MUF has issued a direct appeal to Governor Alia to intervene and ensure the suspension is lifted immediately. "MUF hereby calls on His Excellency Rev. Fr. Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia to cause the lifting of the suspension slammed on our very competent son, Chief Aondona Hyacinth Dajoh, the Atonko U Mbatiav by the 10th Benue State House of Assembly forthwith," their statement concluded.

The group maintains that their son has been subjected to unfair treatment and deserves to resume his legislative duties without further delay. The political tension in Benue State continues to escalate as this development adds to existing governance challenges.
