Integrity Group Urges Nigerians to Keep Faith in Tinubu's $1 Trillion Economy Goal
Integrity Group Urges Nigerians to Keep Faith in Tinubu

The Integrity Group of Nigeria, also operating under the banner of the Renewed Hope Agenda Ambassadors, has issued a strong appeal urging Nigerians to maintain their confidence in the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The group firmly asserted that the Federal Government's ambitious objective of building a $1 trillion economy by the year 2030 remains both realistic and entirely achievable.

This appeal was made during a well-attended world press conference held at the group's headquarters in Asaba. Dr. Oke Idawene, the Convener of the group, took the opportunity to commend President Tinubu for what he characterized as strategic measures designed to bolster the national economy and provide robust support to state governments across the federation.

Dr. Idawene specifically praised the Tinubu administration for its decision to increase allocations to states. He noted that this move has empowered governors to undertake a greater number of infrastructure projects and significantly enhance the delivery of essential services to the citizenry. He urged Nigerians to exercise patience with the government, drawing a powerful analogy between the President's leadership and that of a surgeon performing a delicate operation. He stated, "We urge citizens to stay calm and not lose faith in the Tinubu-led government. Tinubu is like a doctor in the theatre; you cannot appraise him until he comes out successfully with the patient."

The Integrity Group described itself as a self-funded grassroots movement, sustained entirely by the contributions of patriotic Nigerians. It revealed that over the past three years, it has been actively involved in promoting good governance, fostering civic participation, and undertaking political mobilisation initiatives across various parts of the country.

Reaffirming its political direction ahead of the 2027 general elections, Dr. Idawene declared the group's unwavering support for the re-election ambitions of both Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He announced that the organisation has set ambitious mobilisation targets: securing 200,000 votes for Governor Oborevwori in Delta State and amassing 10 million votes nationwide for President Tinubu.

Speaking further on the upcoming Delta State governorship contest, Dr. Idawene described the 2027 race as effectively a "no contest." He argued that Governor Oborevwori's performance in office has already earned him broad and substantial public support across the state. He also advised any prospective governorship aspirants in Delta State to reconsider their ambitions, maintaining that the governor has consolidated enough goodwill to secure another term with ease.

Addressing concerns expressed in some quarters about the potential for Nigeria to slide into a one-party state, the group's Deputy National Media Director, Ufuoma Onovughakpo, dismissed such claims outright. According to her, Nigeria's democratic system remains vibrant and robust, with all registered political parties enjoying the freedom to contest elections and present alternative visions to the electorate.
