Lagos Community Applauds Federal Lawmaker for Solar Streetlight Initiative
Residents of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Federal Constituency in Lagos have expressed their gratitude and commendation for the member representing them in the House of Representatives, Dr. Kalejaye Adeboye Paul. This praise follows the successful installation of solar-powered streetlights across multiple streets, including Okulaja, Okito, Iyalode, God-in-Action, Ojo Road, Kalejaiye Close, and 16 other locations within the constituency.
Enhanced Safety and Crime Reduction
The community members have reported a significant decrease in criminal activities since the implementation of the solar streetlights. According to Hakeem Odumbaku Aweda, a local resident, the initiative has transformed the area, making it safer for nighttime activities. "You will be happy with what is happening if you come to our area at night," Aweda stated, highlighting the positive impact on daily life and security.
Comprehensive Development Projects
Beyond the streetlight installation, Dr. Paul has spearheaded a range of developmental projects aimed at improving the welfare of his constituents. These initiatives include:
- Construction of classrooms at Ladipo Primary School in the Ifelodun Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
- Facilitation of a 500kva transformer to boost electricity supply.
- Empowerment programs for over 200 youths through ICT training with incentives.
- Provision of food palliative for 7,000 constituents during challenging times.
- Distribution of empowerment items such as sewing machines, tricycles, grinding machines, standing dryers, motorcycles, and makeup equipment to community members.
- Organisation of social media and marketing training for 100 youths, supported with N65,000 each.
- Financial support of N10 million distributed to 200 mosques and churches in the area.
Inclusive and Non-Partisan Approach
Dr. Paul emphasized that his efforts are inclusive and not limited to political party members. "We are not doing things for party members alone but for everyone in Ajeromi-Ifelodun," he said. He further explained that projects like the transformer and street lighting are designed to benefit all residents regardless of religion, tribe, gender, or political affiliation, ensuring equitable access to developmental benefits.
Commitment to Robust Representation
In his remarks, Dr. Paul reaffirmed his dedication to providing effective representation for Ajeromi-Ifelodun. "I promised to give a voice to Ajeromi Ifelodun and I started that almost immediately," he noted, adding that he has established a strong presence in the National Assembly through consistent attendance and dedication. He pledged to prioritize youth-focused programs and continue attracting more developmental projects to the constituency, aiming to deliver the dividends of democracy and inspire hope across all sectors.
